Week 3 of the regular NFL season was full of upsets by the underdog teams, which is proving much more difficult for the sports bettors to know which team to actually bet on. For those sports fans that actually watched the NFL week 3 match-ups, will be able to tell that the underdog teams that won, did so by a very small margin. Either way, a bettor should always conduct their own research based on these picks, and enjoy watching the matches!

Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns; Ravens to Win

The Odds

Team

Spread

Cleveland Browns +14        -110
Baltimore Ravens -14         -110

The Cleveland Browns have been on a losing streak, so far a 0 – 3 record tarnishes their name. The Ravens on the other hand, managed a 2 – 1 record, where their only loss was on the road against a much tougher opponent; which they only lost by one point.

The Ravens have been showing their worth, by recently beating the New England Patriots in a very tough game. No disrespect to the Browns fans, but Cleveland lacks a good enough team that can stop the Ravens offense. Each game the Ravens have played, have ended up being high scoring games, whereas the Browns have been unable to get any kind of high score.

The Browns have had a tougher time against their opponents thanks to the fact that they have been unable to stop the offense, and likely been unable to surpass the opponent’s defense. During this particular match, the Ravens have the home field advantage, as well as an equal footing when it comes to defense. What will ultimately give the Ravens their victory, will be their great ability to score and continue scoring.

With such an imbalance of power, and the fact that the Ravens are at home and have just come from defeating a strong team, will certainly motivate them to play more fiercely. This match will have a high score on behalf of the Ravens, while the Browns may have little opportunity to score.

The Patriots have just come from a loss on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, and they are up against the Buffalo Bills on their second consecutive away game of the season. For this reason, the Patriots could perform one of two ways, with a defeated attitude or with a chance of redemption. The Patriots are known for their offensive prowess, and when they are facing opponents on the road, they have shown that they are capable of getting the wins; seeing as they beat the Tennessee Titans the first match of the season, which was also on the road.

The Patriots have a much better overall defense, which will be able to counter the Bills home team advantage. The Bills have been able to win 2 of the 3 games so far, but they have not been able to stop the passing plays; which is why they lost against the Jets and will lose again against the Patriots.

Either way, this will be a high scoring match, but the Bills will be able to keep a close score on the Patriots.

The Falcons are going on a 3 – 0 winning streak, and with this upcoming match against the Panthers being at their home field, it will give them even more reason to continue playing as best they can. The Falcons are at home, with a much better defense than the Panthers, and even showing a much better offensive lineup.

The Panthers have a -6 turnover ratio, which is pretty fatal when they are up against such a good defense; the Falcons have a +10 turnover ratio indicating they do a good job at getting the ball back. The passing game, which is essential in gaining yards and even scoring touchdowns, is totally in control of the Falcon QB, Matt Ryan. The Panthers have neither the offense nor the defense that could counter the Falcons. On top of everything, the Panthers do not do well against the passing game, which is what the Falcons are prominent at.

There is a very likely chance that the Falcons will outscore the Panthers, and attain a high score all together. Between the Falcons defense shutting them down, and their offense posting up touchdowns, it will end with a big difference.

Another great team that has a 3 – 0 record, the Houston Texans have been showing that this very young NFL team has a very good shot at making it to the Super Bowl. The Titans have been unable to win a game on the road so far during the start of this season, and had a hard time even winning at home against the Detroit Lions. The Texans have proven they are good at winning on the road, and at home.

The simple fact is that the Titans lack a good defense, which would be necessary when playing against such a tough offensive opponent. What makes it worse is that the Texans defense has the ability of shutting what little offense the Titans have; and have proven this fact during their previous 3 matches. The Houston Texans truly are a balanced team, showing very good offense and defensive skills.

This match is entirely on the Texans behalf, they will be able to attain a high score, while keeping the Titans score low. Beating the spread in this match seems like a no brainer. The Texans have been able to get a pretty good point difference in their past few games, especially against weaker opponents.

The Bears have a very good overall defense, covering the rushing and passing very well. They have been able to get a large amount of interceptions, fumbles, and an overall good turnover ratio. The Cowboys on the other hand, have a bad turnover ratio, along with a tendency to rely more on their passing coverage. The Bears are going to take advantage of the big gap the Cowboys have when it comes to stopping the rushing, and are going to be running the ball through the goal line.

Both teams have amazing defenses, with a poor offense behind them. The game will ultimately depend on how well each team exploits the defensive weakness; which in this case, the Cowboys lack a good defense against the rush. The score during this defensive matchup is going to be much lower than many expect, and the winner could even depend on which team has the best kicker.
